    Seóirse Brogur Creagh mentioned in this song was Land agent to the Landlord of Firmount – ‘Townsend’.
    The following facts can be gleaned from the Title Deeds of Townsend’s former farm and residence.
    Horatio Townsend transferred [lefarse] 50 acres of his personal estate together with his residence by Deed of Indenture for 31 years dated 1855 to George Washington Brogur Creagh. For some reason George Washington Brogur Creagh Junior transferred the property to George Washington Brogur Creagh Senior, a rather peculiar procedure reversing the natural order of events. This record in 1857.
