How we longed for Erin's freedom
And our young hearts throbbed with pride
For the day was swiftly coming
When upon the mountainside
With veterans brave to lead us
WE would march to meet the foe
And plant my country's banner
On the green hills of Cloghroe.

Full many a polished rifle
