  2. The teacher in Stuake School. Murphy's, Firmount. (now occupied by Madden's) Michael P David Healy, Gurrane. O'Sullivan, Courtbrack, Foxe's Bridge. Sheehan (Timothy Barret's uncle, Pluckanes) In those days the local R.I.C Sergeant was Fixy Scanlon, a noted opponent of Fenianism. He frequently raided Healys and David Healy, who was a drunkard, was obliged to emigrate. Later he joined the American Army and fought in the American Civil War.

  3. Local tradition says that some of their guns were hidden somewhere about half a mile from Firmount school, being buried secretly.
