    The people that morning who saw them so pale,

    This was written by Arthur Hickey a native of Watergrasshill, Co. Cork, who was working in Carhue, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, when the R.I.C. barrack was captured (the first to be captured in Ireland.)
