- At fifteen years of age people wore boots long ago, and then only on Sundays. There are accounts of people who never wore boots not so long ago, some children do not wear shoes or boots, during the Summer, only the very poor.
There is a belief that water used for washing feet should be thrown out before going to bed.
Boots are made and repaired locally. There are two shoe makers in the place but there were once eight. There people have been shoe makers before them. The greater number of shoes are now purchased in the shops so that it is repairs only that are done by these men.
Clogs were worn about thirty years ago but there are few worn now.
Shoes and boots were made of dog's skin.- Bailitheoir
