On this page

  1. Poultices of (a) bread and water
    (b) bread squeezed out of boiling milk
    (c) a white turnip
    (d) a roasted potato.
These were used to bring the boil to a head and burst it, then plasters of melted beeswax on brown paper or soap and sugar mixed with boiled milk were applied to draw them.
