  1. Song

As I stand in Roche Castle on the heights of Glanworthlawn my thoughts fly back to ages of grandeur and renown

As I stand in Roche Castle on the heights of Glanworth town
My thoughts fly back to ages of grandeur and renown
When our Chieftains wandered freely through our own loved country
To hunt wild game of every kind thro' forest glen and lea.
No alien flag waved o'er our land, no foreign tongue was spoke
But to the ancient Irish songs our minstrels' harps awoke.
In kingly hall and mansions great, our wealth we did enjoy
When the OKeeffe clan in lordly state, ruled over sweet Fermoy.
But ah! alas! a tyrant cruel came to our lovely shore
And laid in ruins our Castles grand from Glanworth to Lismore
    II
Oh clear old hoary Funcheon when I look upon the lea
That hems in thy crystal waters from the Hag's Bed to Cronee
In sorrow deep my eyes doth weep and tears in torrents flow
