  1. Bird Lore.
    The following list of birds are those most commonly found in our district: the lark, robin, nuthatch, wren, finch, wagtail, blackbird, skylark. Every Autumn a vast bird population flies south-wards. Thousands of warblers, swallows, and martins which came here in the spring go to their winter homes. The majority go to Africa, the others to Southern Europe, but all fly south into the warmth and sunshine. We know that if they remained here they could not find sufficient food to carry them through the winter, and so they fly to when
