    I reside in the townland of Knocknaboul which is in the parish of Ballydesmond and in the barony of Duhallow. There are twenty families living in it and one hundred people. The name Healy is the most numerous in this townland. Most of the houses are slated.
    Knocknaboul derives its name from its numerous hills and valleys. There are four old women who have completed their seventeenth year. Those are Mr. and Mrs. Twomey, Mrs Healy and Mrs Flynn. None of these can speak Irish except Mrs Healy. In former years not many houses were built there.
