    land all round it is coarse and rushy and this field is like an oasis in the middle of it.
    Another field is called "The black field". The soil is black in colour. It seems probable that turf was found there at one time.
    Another field was called "the clover". I suppose a heavy crop of clover grew there at one time.
    Another was called "the boggy meadow". Parts of it were swampy and it was dangerous for cattle to walk into those parts. If they did so they couldn't come out without being drawn out by means of ropes.
    Another field is called "the Buaile". I dare say at one time it was a general sleeping place for cows at night, though not now used for that purpose.
    Another was called Páirc Píordan. It is long and narrow with a high ridge in the centre.
