    OMENS
If a farmer gave milk to a poor person, a tiny pinch of salt was put in it so that no charm could affect it
No fire (seed) or milk was lent to any one on May Day. Those to whom it was given could work charms on the giver
Cattle should be minded well on May Day or they are liable to fall into a drain owing to the spell of some evil-minded neighbour.
May an unlucky month for Marriages
It is unlucky to go to the well for water after night-fall. You may be disturbing the Good People who are congregated there.
It is unlucky to have anything on your shoulder going in or out a door.
It is unlucky to go under a ladder or pole which is up against a wall.
