    There was a battle fought on Cnoc na n-Os in the year 1647. Taafe was fighting on the Irish side, and Inchiquin was on the English side. The Irish were beaten, and the dead were buried in Clonmeen graveyard, Banteer, County Cork. O'Sullivan Beara stayed a night at McAuliffe's Castle, Newmarket, County Cork.
    Cromwell passed through Dromtarriffe, Banteer, County Cork, and he destroyed the Catholic Church in Dromtarriffe.
