  1. In the townland of Ballygibbon there is a fort known as "Ballinaraha Fort. This fort is situated about 2 miles from Blarney. To reach the fort one has to pass Ballymartin Bridge and to continue on until one reaches the crossroads when one turns to the north on to the road that leads to the Mallow Road. This road is known as "The Old Road" because before the Mallow Road was made this road was used to get to Mallow.
The fort is not very large and there is the remains of a[n] moat and parts of it can still be seen. There were two walls around the fort, the inner wall being broken in several parts while the out[t]er wall is almost completely demolished but a portion still remains.
When you come to the crossroads and if you turn to the south-east road and go for about a quarter of a mile you will come to a lane which branches off the road and passes by a field. In this field there is a fort which is in very good condition, it is encircled by a tall wall there is only one break in the wall. The inside of the fort is very level and smooth.
