    died there and was buried in the tombs of his ancestors in the friary of Kilcrea.
    Castle Inch continued in possession of the Mc Carthy but is not mentioned in the many castles of Cork taken & retaken during the struggle 1641 - 1652. By the side of the road is situated what appears to be an ancient shrine constructed of rough masonry. It is divided into three sections. The end sections are occupied by two wells evidently holy wells judging from the religious emblems placed around their walls.
