  1. There are three local roads named "Cummeen road", "Meenachoney road", and the new road.
During the famine a road was made between Cummeen and Kilmartin. It was made as relief and the wages for each workman was a penny a day and to diet themselves. They used yellow meal, and they came to some house nearby to cook and eat it. That road was never used and it is still called, "the board of work". Another road was made in Meenachoney, and they worked for the same wages as in Cummeen. It was made from Patrick Mc Sweeney's house in Meenachoney to Hurley's cross in Goulane.
