    There was a priest in Inis Léin long ago, seventy or eighty years ago, and he has a few cows.

    The priest asked him if he would watch the cows at night. He said he would not watch any cow, that he would be afraid. He agreed after awhile, and that night the priest made the sign of the cross on him and gave him a glass of whiskey. "All the devils in hell can't come near you now" said he.
    The boy watched that night, and if he did he saw a woman coming milking the cows.
    Next morning they found a lump of butter in the fork of a white thorn tree near the house.
    The clúmh liath was growing on it.
    That was part of the charm. From that out they had no bother about the butter.
