    big hole there. He came near the hole and found it was the place in which he laid the gold. He heard some one calling him, and he turned away, but he could see nothing.
    He looked at the hole and was surprised to see the gold and a strip of paper, and on it were some strange golden letters saying. Take this crock of gold home and do not leave it here.
    When he had read this he turned away and laughed. Soon he saw a wild beast coming towards him. He was frightened and was about to take the gold and run away but the wild beast roared at him, and with the fright he left it fall.
    Then he ran away and when he was as far as the fence he looked back and was surprised to see nothing but the crock of gold. So he went back and took the crock and ran as fast as
