  1. Long ago there was a man whose name was Mr. Tim Foley living in Bawnishal. He used to go around thatching houses. How he used thatch is he would get some wheaten straw and he would make small sheaves of the straw and put hemp around them. The thatcher would have a thatching needle and he would thread the needle with the hemp. Then he would put the sheaves up on the house and he would put them so near that no drop of rain could go inside and he would shove in the needle and the person inside would shove it out a different hole and so on. Then whe they would have the sewing finished they would get sods about ten feet long pointed at both ends so that it would be easy to put them through the thatch. Then they would put the sods
