    My heart is gone with her who won the praises of the nation;
    And I that walked, and laughed and talked,

    I'll tell no lie, her roguish eye has captured me completely,
    It spun me round on slippery ground until I wondered greatly,
    If 'twas upon my heels or head, or hands that I was walking;
    And when it came to saying a word,
    she clinched me with the talking.

    I've travelled far on cart and car, in fair and stormy season,
    To many a maid my court I've paid, and pleased her with my praising.
