stream in it and it is a tributary of the Shannon.

My name is Michael Durney and I live in Cornafulla, Drum, Athlone. The families living in my Townland are about eighteen. The are ninty one people living in it. About one-half of the houses are thatched and the other half of them are slated. The family name most common in it is McManus.
The Townland got its name by a great fight which was fought there at one time. When the fight was over the place was red with blood and that is how the Townland got the name Cornafulla or the place of blood. There are six old people over seventy in it.
They know no Irish. The land in it is good and some of it is boggy. There is one wood in it. Its name is the Johnstown wood. It separates Cornafulla from Clonark. There is but one river in Cornafulla namely a tributary of the Shannon.
