    afford the same for supper but it was more often a feed of Indian meal called stirabout with skim milk. This was surely a poor sort of diet but my father and the old man said that they were a great many poor families who had not even that. Neither had some the table to lay the victuals on. The potatoes were thrown into a basket commonly called a "sciathog out of which the family ate the contents.
