  2. The people are not so much for the old cures as they were before. When the doctors were scarce the people depended a lot upon the old cures, but they are mostly done away with now. Many people visit holy wells always. On the 15th of August a good many people of this district go to St. Factna's well near Rosscarbery and make ''rounds'' there. There is a ''surefeit'' well near Bandon and when an animal would have a surfeit people go there for a bottle of water. A few cures are.
Headache:- A cup of strong tea.
    Chilblains:- Meat pickle.
    Pheumonia:- Bran poultice.
    Corns:- Castor oil.
