    The ruins of an old house is still to be seen in the townland of Ardralla, Church Cross, Skibbereen, Co. Cork. It is situated about ten feet from the river Ilen in a field belonging to a man named Dick Draper. It belonged to the Beechers an old family of this district, before the Irish Free State soldiers took it over,
    At that time the rebellion was drawing to a close as the Republicans split. The side which formed the Free State were stationed in this house when the Republicans burned it. The four walls stand a witness to these terrible days. Mrs. Beecher and her family went to America and Dick Draper bought her land.
