    There was school taught about 150 years ago in a house of John Beirne in Lavagh. There was a school in Mrs Mc Guire's field, the school teacher's name was Pat Donlon, the place was called DOnlan's hill on account of the many families of Donlans who lived on it. There was a school in Carrigeen about 100 years ago and the school teacher's name was Brannon.
