  1. Herbs
    Elderberry makes a good ointment to heal a burn. The bark has to be scraped off and the green substance underneath has to be boiled along with cabbage and butter. It is then strained and when it cools it is quite firm.
    Ivy is good for dye. If one has any faded black cloth ivy leaves will make it pure black if the cloth is boiled with the leaves.
    A dock leaf will cure a blister.
    Long ago people used to eat a couple of meals of nettles in the year to purify their blood.
    Dandelions are used to make wine.
