- The name of my home district and my townsland is Knockbawn. It is in the Parish of Ballinakill. The Barony is Dysart Gallen. There are about nineteen families in it. There are about seventy people in it. The common family names are, Keys, Brophy, and Keating. Some of the houses are slated and some of them thatches. There are three old people in it. They are over eighty years of age. There are no story-tellers in my district. There were more houses in my district long ago. There are many ruinds in my district. A great many people emigrated to America during the years of the Famine. There is one song about my district. There is just a verse about it."One fine Summer's morning
just after the dawn,
I steered my straight course
for the hills of Knockbawn,
When crossing those hills
I felt lonely and sad,
As I gazed on the ranches
