seller gives him luck money, a half a crown a head is given as luck money on cattle, sixpence on sheep and pigs and ten shillings on horses. When a bargain is made the buyer and the seller strike hands. The buyer marks his cattle by rubbing mud on the animals back or by cutting the hair off its side with a scissors.
When a horse is sold the halter is given away to the buyer. There is a pig market held every Monday for pigs and Bonhams in Cullahill.
There used to be a fair held on the hill of Bawn in the parish of Galmoy, Co. Kilkenny.
