Newbridge Rd. Naas.One of the British Mail Boats, the “Leinster”, which was sailing between Dun Laoghaire, and Holyhead, was sunk by a German Submarine, in October, 1918.About two or three miles from Dun Laoghaire, a German submarine torpedoed the “Leinster” twice, and gradually she began to plunge to her doom.Women and children were fainting in their cabins, and were smothered when the water got in. Some who were on the top deck slipped off and were drowned, and others jumped into the sea, and to save themselves they swam to anything that could support them.(continues on next page)
