    back. The man walks up and down between the drills and thoroughly sprays the potato-stalks. This is very important otherwise blight would attack the plants and so the whole crop would be wasted.
    Some people spray twice others spray thrice.
    In this district the 11th or 12th of July sees the first early potatoes in use. Very rarely are they dug before this.
    Then from this time on enough is dug each day "to do the dinner" and for fowl and pigs.
    Early in October the main crop is dug.
    Most farmers take out the crop with a "digger". As these are expensive a number of farmers share one.
