    The Coolbawn boys went down
    To meet the men of Comer,
    The team of great renown.

    'Twas there they met their Waterloo,
    For they scarcely made an ace,
    When Murt Brennan came home that day
    The tears rolled down his face.

    Mr. Nolan was a sorrowful sight,
    As he left the Prince that day,
    With his two slinkeens of slippers,
    As he homeward wound his way.

    He said, "Good-bye to cricket,
    No more will I be seen,
    With the poor old men of Ardra,
    Who disgraced me by the Deen."

    "Now, my advice to the Coolbawn boys,
    Wherever they may go:
    If they are asked can they play cricket
    Let their answer be "Oh! no."
