- Raths There are two fairy fonts in our
district . They are round in shape
and are surrounded by bushes and
stones. They were supposed to be the
burial places of the Danes . Some
say that if you were passing
by a rath on moonlight nights
you could hear the sound of music
and dancing but you could see
nothing. Once upon a time men
carted stones from a rath to build
some houses. The next day a fairy
blast turned turned the cans in the yard and broke the shafts. The noise
durning the night was terrific and
the following day they canted back
the stones again. It is also supposed to be unlucky to cut any
bushes on take any stones(continues on next page)- Collector
