   The foundation stone of the above Church was laid by the Very Rev. James Gorman. His nephew, the Very Rev. John Gorman, who became Pastor of the Church, effected the completion of the Sacred Edifice. Many improvements have recently been effected by the Very Rev. Archdeacon Doyle, D.D., P.P., V.F.

   One of the special features of this Church was the High Altar, which was one of the largest and most beautiful of its kind in Ireland, its table was of Kilkenny marble.
