  1. Folklore.
    In the Parish of Danesfort about five miles from the city of Kilkenny what we now call the Waterford main trunk road. There lived an old Dame named Kathaleen Ní Torra. It is said she was called an evil Spirit having having murdered her young child and having performed other fiendish acts of cruelty. At a late at night generally about the midnight hour this funny creature was to be met on the public road. It is told by the old people of that district that a life must be lost whenever she appeared in the locality.
