  1. In the olden days creamerys were unknown. The farmers used to make their own butter at home. They would set the milk in tubs and after two days skim the cream off the milk and make butter of it. This was done by putting the cream into a barrel and twisting the handle around until the butter was made. Then they filled little firkins with butter and brought them to the nearest market for sale.
