- (continued from previous page)again. In the winter 1849 there fell very, very, heavy snow. It was three feet high on the ground. Then the tents afforded poor shelter and a terrible sickness came upon the soldiers and the result was:-
Three of them died and were buried in the park below the church near the Glen river. The spot can be pointed out by some people today. About twenty of them died crossing over to England.- Collector
