  1. Spears were made in Piltown long ago. They were made by a blacksmith named John Brown. John made a great number of spears for the Irishmen who were fighting the Englishmen. John was a very important man then. He was next to the King. He earned a lot of money by selling the spears to the Kings He worked very hard night and day He was never idle. He made spears eight feet long. He made the points of the spears very sharp. John was often at feasts at the king's palace. The king's soldiers were always guarding the smith. He never sold the spears to the Engishmen. The Irish people liked John very much.
