    The Earl of Bessboro' is the local landlord.
    The family has been settled in the district since the of Cromwell. They were looked upon as good landlords.
    Evictions we carried out in the district the people had to leave their own good land and go to bad land up the hills.
    When cromwell was going to Carrick he passed through Tober-na-brone he was accompanied by one of his officers named Ponsoby.
    Cromwell gave Bessboro and all the ground aroud it to Ponsoby.
    The he married a lady named Bess and that is how Bessboro got its name
    Farms was not divided under their guidance.
