    Long ago people seldom began work of importance on a Friday and Saturday is considered a very unlucky day for changing from house to house. Potatoes should be planted on or before Good Friday. On New Years Day the people considered it very unlucky for a woman to enter the house first. A dark-haired man was always welcome. May-Day nothing was or borrowed. No ashes was thrown out that day as it was
