  1. The local fairs are held in Loughlynn, Ballinlough, Castlerea, Ballaghaderren, and Ballyhaunis
    They are always held in town. There were fairs held formerly now discontinued. The fairs are held in fair-greens in Loughlynn, Castlerea Ballyhaunis and Ballaghaderren.
    The Loughlynn fairs were discontinued for a long time up to last year.
    The old fairs were held in Castlerea on the 23rd May, 21st June, 7th August 7th November, but the dates were changed. It is between fifty and forty years now and the people thought that was not enough of fairs and they wanted one every month but the ones that had to pay the tolls would not let them into the fair
