    Cashel (Co. Tipperary). Formerly the residence of the Kings of Munster.
    The Rock of Cashel (300 Feet) is surmounted by a noble pile of historic remains.
    The most celebrated of these is the Cathedral of Cormac Mc. Carthy (early 12th century) a striking example of Irish Romanesque architecture.
    Scattery Island (Inis Cathaigh) in the Shannon is near Kilrush. It is a small island containing many interesting antiquities of the early Christian period. They include a round tower of 120 feet in height.
    Holy Cross Abbey (4 miles from Thurles) is a superb specimen of Norman architecture was rebuilt probably in the 14th century but originally founded by Donald Mór O'Brien, King of Thomond in 1182.
