  1. Customs
    When the potatoes were all dug there was a feast held on the last night and the women made Stampy. This was made by grating raw potatoes, squeezing them in a cloth and mixing a little flour with them, making them into a thin cake and baking them on a griddle. They were eaten hot with butter. This feast was called Closure.
    St John's Eve. June 23rd
    Bonfires were lighted in every district and all the people from the district round came and stood round them.
    St. Brigit's Eve
    A "Biddy" was made. She was usually dressed in white with arms akimbo to represent the
