  1. Long ago they had a level place in the mountain where they used to milk the cows. The girl went to milk the cows and she brought a churn with her, as she was milking the cows a number of wild cats surrounded her.
The dog took chase at the cats and the cats attacked the dog and killed him. So to save her life she gave them the churn of milk. The milk flowed along in a stream and ever since that place is called Maughanastrahane
