  1. Penal Times.
In Glenna Gorp in Capra in the parish of Donaghmoyne in the Barony of Farney in the Co. Monaghan mass was said in a garden. Norman Steele was the head of the yeomen and he used to go round and everywhere he would see a priest saying mass he would cut the head of him. One night he was walking on the road and here was girl living on the road and she had a pot of gruel boiling on the fire and she said "if Norman had a porringer of that," and Norman was listening outside at the door and he came in and said, "What's good for Norman is good for you," and so he made her swallow the boiling gruel and she died.
