- A man named John Brennan lived in Ardaloo, Jenkins town, Co. Kilkenny and he was noted for his high jumping. He used to compete in Gaelic Athletic Sports all over Ireland and was victorious in most of them, so successful that he is said to have his house full of trophies and medals. He used to jump over six feet, three inches. Another great jumper was Edward Campion of Goresgrove.
