    On the first day of August Ill never forget.
    Mick Brennan and Jack Bolkin in Classtuff they met.
    They were running like red shanks and tearing there hair.
    Says Jack Bolkin Im chased by a mighty big bear.
    It was off too the peelers Jack Bolkin did run
    He called to the Sergeant to bring out his gun.
    The Sergeant got ready got powder enough.
    For to shoot the big bear that was up in Classtuff.
    The beattler came out on the road he did prance.
    Says he to the Sergeant well call out Jim Bance.
    Well call out Jack Kelly Fred Holmes and Jack Crath Thom Ring
    and Thom Kavannagh and the pig man named Cha
