    rath. For a time he could not hear or see anything, and he was about to return home when he heard a sound of tapping not much louder than the ticking of a watch. He looked around and saw a little man dressed in a bright red jacket sitting under a mushroom.
    Sean fixed his eyes on the little man and stepped up to the spot where he was sitting. The little man spoke to Sean in a friendly way. He tried every way he could to make Sean turn his head but he did not succeed. Then he asked Sean what he would do with the gold. Sean told him he would build a good house and wear good clothes.
    Then the fairy asked Sean to set him on the ground and he would walk to the place where the gold was to be found. The little man showed him a tree in the centre of the rath and told him to go home and get a spade and
