- Esker: Esker is so called because of the many sand pits that are in that district. There was a castle there owned by Edmond Purcell. In the year 1600 Crowmell came and took it.Maudlin: There was a leper house in Maudlin and a castle owned by Shean Purcell. There was a hill near the castle called "cnocán na beirighe". There was a grave on the top of it in which there were human bones. Tobar an eic was near that hill.
