    Brigid McConnon is my name. I live in the townland of Owery, in the parish of Carrickmacross, and in the barony of Farney, in South Monaghan. We have a large farm, containing fourteen Irish acres of land. On the farm there are many fields, each having a peculiar name.
    The names of the fields are:-
    the "Sruth"
    the "Scression"
    the "Cowan"
    the "Back of the Face"
    the Turfstack field
    the Hollow
    Betchengor
    Carrigaléine
    the Brae,
    the High Rock
    the Gallagh
    Crigs field
    "Big John's field"

    Some time ago we had a field called
