He put 150 men on the each bank. These men had long poles fastened to the seats and they pulled the boats over the shallow part. The boats floated into the Lower Lake and their occupants saw Ross. The garrison surrendered.
Fahter Thaddeus Moriarty was imprisoned in Ross Castle. On his way there he fell three times and the soldiers cut a stick from a wayside tree and gave it to him to help him along(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
