  1. Match-Making.
    This time of the year which is called "shrove" is a time when many people go match-making and get married. Shrove-tide begin after the sixth of January and lasts until Shrove Tuesday. By match-making we mean when two people agree to get married.
    If a girl wishes to get married, her parents send a message to the parents of a young man inviting them to meet in town on a certain day to discuss the arrangements for the marriage. The bride to be and the bride- groom - are not present on the day of the match - making.
